The de Havilland Tiger Moth primary trainer first flew in 1931. It continued on to train tens of thousands of pilots for Great Britain and numerous other countries around the world for over twenty years before being retired from military service.
The aircraft were originally equipped with a 120 h.p. four cylinder engine. Through the years, updates to the aircraft included an engine that eventually produced 25 more h.p., plywood decking, enclosed cockpits, heating, and tail wheels.
Although generally forgiving, the de Havilland Tiger Moth is not the easiest aircraft to fly. It requires firm, positive control inputs, and is somewhat slow to respond. Yet the aircraft can be over-controlled into a flat spin or tip stall. Perhaps its greatest assets are reliability, strength, and ease of maintenance.
Today some 250 de Havilland Tiger Moth aircraft continue to fly. Some are still used for training, as well as recreation, and they even perform at air shows. A total of 8,868 were manufactured.

Please note that the ads for many of the small, park flyer Tiger Moth rc airplanes make claims about their aerobatic capabilities and ability
to fly in strong winds. These models are generally mild powered little floaters. We have never seen a video showing such abilities and feel that these claims are strong exaggerations.
