The North American F-107 is the only American jet fighter ever to have an air intake on the top of its fuselage.

Three North American F-107 aircraft were built in answer to U.S.A.F. requirements for a fighter/bomber to deliver a nuclear payload while flying at up to twice the speed of sound.

To make room for the fire control radar, the engine air intake of the North American F-107 aircraft was moved to the top of the fuselage behind the cockpit. Rather than ailerons, it used spoilers which allowed the aircraft to roll at supersonic speeds. Other features of the aircraft included an all-moving vertical fin and a variable area inlet duct to automatically control the air intake to the engine.

The North American F-107 never went into production.

Pictured above and immediately below is a foam North American F107 RC Airplane built and designed by bigdoginit of RC Groups.  The North American F-107 radio control airplane plans can be found at Parkjets plans. The RC North American F-107 airplane is made of foam and has pusher prop.  Wing span of the North American F-107 radio control airplane is 30" and length is 41".  The RC Airplane is powered by a Hi Max HA2025-4200 brushless motor geared 4.4:1 swinging a 9 x 7 pusher propeller.

The second picture below is of a North American F-107 radio control airplane built by Burkefj of RC Groups.  It is a pusher prop profile model rcNorth American F-107 airplane made of Depron foam.  The radio control airplane has a wing span of 24" and a length of 33".  Power for the rc airplane comes from a Grayson Hobby brushless motor driving a 6 x 4 pusher prop.

The third picture down is of the North American F-107 radio control airplane scratch built by Sergio Vergara. The RC North American F-107 airplane has a wing span of 76" and a length of 103".  Sergio powers his radio control airplane with a single Jet Cat P-120 turbine.

Have you built a North American F-107 RC Airplane? Can you recommend any additional North American F-107 radio control airplane ARF's, plans or kits?  If so, please email us.

Ron Schwarzkopf writes:  "I stumbled upon your website while doing an occasional search on the North American F-107 radio control airplane.  It seems you're looking for pics of North American F-107RC Airplane models, along with other types.

I have finished, and flown last year, a 1/7.5 scale North American F-107 radio control airplane model, which has been scratch built.  The RC North American F-107 airplane is powered by a TJT-300 turbojet, and the radio control airplane model is currently being "re-engined," along with receiving additional detail.  Enclosed is a picture of the North American F-107 radio control airplane that I happen to have on hand."

You can find Ron's North American F-107 RC Airplane in the last picture on this page.

Thank you very much for sending us information about your North American F-107 radio control airplane, Ron.
