The Nimbus 4 is the world's fastest glider. The aircraft is produced by Schempp-Hirth.
On Dec. 22, 2006 a Nimbus-4DM (DM = double Seat/Motor) set the open class world glider speed record of 306.8 km/h (about 190 mph) over a 500 Km (about 310 miles) out and return course. The aircraft was piloted by Klaus Ohlmann.
A total of 37 Nimbus 4 DM gliders have been built to date.

ICARE Nimbus 4DM. The ARF has a wing span of 157" and a length of 53".
It has a glass fuse with sheeted foam wings. Typical power can come from a HP 370 motor driving a 22 x 10 prop. Gearing for the motor is 1:1.9 through an ICARE self launch system.
There is a build thread for a rc Nimbus 4 semi-scale in RC Groups by Mike Bogh. It has a 6 meter wingspan and weighs around 17 lbs. ready to fly.
