The Grumman HU-16 Albatross is credited with the rescue of thousands of troops from coastal waters and rivers during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
 
The Grumman HU-16 Albatross is an amphibian aircraft with the ability to perform a variety of missions. It can operate with skis from snow and ice, from land, or water.
 
The prototype Grumman HU-16 Albatross first flew on Oct. 24, 1947. The "B" version, featuring a 16 foot longer wing, was introduced in 1955.
 
The Grumman HU-16 Albatross is probably best known as a rescue aircraft. However, most recently, about 30 aircraft are used as tour aircraft and customized executive aircraft.  
 
A total of 466 Grumman HU-16 Albatross aircraft of all types were produced.

Pictured above and in the first picture immediately below is the G & P Sales RC Grumman HU-16 Albatross. The radio control airplane has a 61" wing span and can be powered by two .20 - .28 engines.
 
For those who like electric power, HVP Modell has a 56" wing span rc Grumman HU-16 Albatross. Power for the radio control airplane can come from two 400 size motors. The rc airplane is in the second picture below.
 
If you like a larger electric power radio control airplane, Velkom has a 66" wing span Grumman HU-16 Albatross RC. Velkom recommends two AXI 2820/10 motors for their Grumman HU-16 Albatross RC Airplane. Check out the third picture below for the radio control airplane.
 
Not pictured is the Hirobo Grumman HU-16 Albatross rc.  The radio control airplane has a 56" wing span and a 36" length.  Construction materials used for the rc HU-16 Albatros are a gel coated epoxy fuselage and balsa over foam wings.  You can power the radio control airplane with a pair of 380 type motors.
